Volunteering

We need you!

We are looking for people who are:

Passionate about helping others transform their lives
Willing to act as role models for people getting back on their feet
Dedicated to passing on their skills and experience
Enthusiastic, friendly, and keen to make a difference

Things we do every day can be daunting to people who have been homeless for some time. Small tasks like filling in a form online can be intimidating for people who haven’t had much access to the internet. Imagine the difference you could make to someone’s day just by sitting with them and helping them through it. If you have the time to volunteer, you can change someone’s life.

Increasingly, schemes that support homeless people with complex needs don’t want someone to hand out food or clothing. They need individuals who can engage with residents and provide additional support for them to learn life skills. The scheme you volunteer at will be able to plan your involvement around the skills and experience you can provide. You might find yourself getting involved in:

Cooking
Computing and IT
Mentoring
Arts and crafts sessions
Gardening

We also need local volunteers who can not only be there for someone, but also provide them with a sense of belonging. They might have been resettled in a new area and need help to familiarise themselves. Befriending someone is as simple as taking them out for a coffee. You might be able to visit them and cook a meal. You might go out with them and do your shopping together. Any time you can give could transform someone’s life.
