Share Giving
Share Giving is a great opportunity to take advantage of a generous tax break and support charity at the same time. For example, if higher-rate UK taxpayer donates £1,000 worth of shares to a charity, they will get £400 reduced off their income tax bill for that year. In addition, they will also be exempt from any capital gains tax. This could mean tax relief for the donor of up to 80 percent. Anyone can donate shares to charity, but they can only claim income tax relief if they are UK taxpayers. The biggest benefit for the donor is the generous tax break available, as well as the chance to support a charity using an asset other than cash.
If you would like to donate shares to Church Housing Trust please call us on 020 7269 1630, or discuss this with your broker.

Payroll Giving
Payroll giving is an easy and tax efficient way of giving to your favourite charities. Under this scheme, anyone whose pay or pension is taxed through PAYE can make tax free donations.
For example, if you give £5.00 a month it will only cost you £4.00. This is because the donation is made before PAYE is deducted, so the tax man won't take the £1.00 you would normally have to pay (at basic rate).
Setting up a payroll giving donation is easy. If your employer already has a scheme in place, just ask your payroll department for a payroll giving form. If your employer doesn’t have a scheme in place, you can encourage them to find out more about payroll giving by referring them to the Payroll Giving Centre on 0845 602 6786, at www.payrollgivingcentre.org.uk, or by email at info@payrollgivingcentre.org.uk.

Legacies
You may not be able to give to us now, but if you include Church Housing Trust in your Will you will be giving a lasting gift which will help to ensure that we can continue to meet the needs of homeless people in the future.
In the past, legacies have meant that we have been able to purchase two minibuses for the use of elderly residents in Gloucester and Kent. We have also been able to furnish and equip a training kitchen in Oxford; provide specialist equipment in bathrooms for frail elderly people in Suffolk, purchase two flats for elderly homeless people in Cambridge and Manchester, and provide extra funding for welfare and resettlement in schemes throughout the country. The thoughtfulness and provision of the people who very generously left legacies to us during the past few years have significantly helped us in our ability to fund many projects for the homeless.
If you haven't yet made a Will, we would be pleased to send you a copy of our legacy leaflet. Please us if you would like a copy or telephone your request (tel: 020 7269 1630). For more information and advice visit or the Institute of Professional Willwriters
